In this first edition of Barcelona Gallery Weekend Galeria Joan Gaspar and Gallery Sicart join to show an exhibition of the Extremaduran artist Ruth Morán. The curator of the project is Imma Prieto.
The dot as an expanded objective. The hollow or the indentation which makes its way through the paper so as to leave the ground behind and reach the sky. Ruth Morán presents her latest work issued from her research of the space around us.
One can appreciate the slowly reflected evolution process which has allowed the artist to discard the superfluous in order to concentrate on the basics of her landscapes.
Her talent to get down to the essentials has allowed her to somewhat cleanse her close, inner landscapes and through her own geography which is a recollection of things earthy, she is now looking up as if aiming to a spatial cosmogony. Her current compositions are made up with thousands of chromatic dots and when approaching her drawings, one senses the centrifugal force that conforms her compositions: as if wanting to concentrate energy, lines have made way for the dots which from time to time, are resolved with a series of small perforations.
In this exhibition one can clearly trace the path which has lead the artist to her current practices. Large-format black drawings where lines predominate, structured chromatic expanses which emerge from one single dot and perforated work on paper, all of which invite to wander into a new landscape.
