Under the PhotoEspaña 2014 Festival, the Madrid’s Galeria Joan Gaspar will present, from June 4th to July 25th, the exhibition "Time and light" with a selection of photographs and videos by Juan Bufill.
Such exhibition wants to join the debate on the theme chosen by PhotoEspaña this year 2014: "Spanish Photography" which offers a retrospective of the photography of our country and different orientations and generations it has produced since the last century to the present day.
In the photographic work of Juan Bufill, the light becomes form and sign and the time is represented in its flow, as an instant transformation. The exhibition "Time and light" claims the contribution of this poet and multidisciplinary artist to the language of photography and abstraction. It will also be the first exhibition to establish a direct dialogue between his photographic and video work proposals, which prolong his experimental cinema.
Juan Bufill
Born in Barcelona on December 19, 1955, his artistic career has been deployed in many disciplines, in a period when the specialization was rewarded. Since 1975, his main occupation is a poetry, but has also done extensive work in photography, experimental film, video and television, art criticism, film and music, cultural journalism, comics and organization or curatorship.
His photographic work is abstract and focuses on topics such as transformations of matter - energy forms of light, shadows and water and the representation of the flow of time. Among his exhibitions, we can cite "Material Light ", "Signature", "Animal light" "Umbrografies", "Time and Chance", "Eternal vision", "Naturalment", "Photographic Fictions" and "Escriptures naturals". He was one of those artists selected by Lola Garrido in the international exhibition "Memory & Weather. Collecting Photography Today" (Photo Colectania, 2005).
