BRAQUE Georges

GEORGES BRAQUE (Argenteuil-sur-Seine (France) 1882 – París 1963).

French painter, engraver and sculptor. He worked with Juan Gris and in tight collaboration with Pablo Picasso, joinly developing a new technique that would later be known as Cubism. Both artists began to experiment with collage. This productive artistic union was broken when Braque enlisted in the french army at the beginning of World War I. From 1917 he restarted to work by himself, and at the end of the war he developed a more personal style.
