ALFARO Andreu

ANDREU ALFARO (València, 1929 - 13.12.2012).

He’s a sculptor of autodidactic formation. In 1958 he took part of the Parpalló group and he started taking part in international contests. He has participated at the Venice Biennale in 1960 and in 1995. His works can be seen at the most important international art fairs, as Köln, Basel, Dusseldorf, Paris, Madrid, etc. Besides, well-known galleries present his works in Madrid: Galeria Metta, Galeria Uno, Galeria Alvaro Alcazar; in Barcelona: Sala Gaspar, Galeria Joan Gaspar; in Valencia: Galeria Temps; in Köln: Gallerie Dreiseitel.

Should be mentioned his monumental public sculptures: more than eighty of them with vocation to integrate in the public space as authentic collective monuments: Germany (Köln, Maguncia, Frankfurt); United States (New York); Spain (Valencia, Burgos, Barcelona, Madrid, Gerona); etc. He has been rewarded with several prizes such as: National Reward of Plastic Arts on 1981; Creu de Sant Jordi by Generalitat de Catalunya on 1982; Moulding Art National Reward, National Prize of Urbanism, Architecture and Public Work on 1991.
