POSTER'S DETAILS
The historical poster from Joan Miró done in 1974 for the Futbol Club Barcelona and its 75 anniversary. It was printed in differents editions. This one is from a big edition with a Miró's signature printed.
JOAN MIRÓ I FERRÀ (1893 Barcelona – 1983 Palma de Mallorca).
Spanish painter, sculptor, engraver, ceramist, considered one of the major representatives of Surrealism. His work reflects the interest for subconscious, the childish aspect and his country. In many interviews and articles dated between 1930 and 1940, Miró expressed his intention to leave conventional painting, “to kill it, to murder it or to violate it” in order to favour a way of expression that could be contemporary. He used many different techniques of painting, some of them very unusual: oil, casein, egg, enamel and tar, incorporating often collage of cardboard and paper, sand, even objects.
He went deep into the graphic production when he was already a famous artist with big experience in different materials and techniques. He learned the engraving in the Louis Marcoussis’s studio starting firstly with two plates for two different colours.
During his stay in New York he improved his technique and evolved in the use the colour. When Miró came back to Europe, he started to collaborate with his friends-poets participating in book illustration. In his late period we can see the influence of North American painting and his interest in Japanese calligraphy. Often his graphic art influenced to his painting and vice versa.
Joan Miró was an artist whom Sala Gaspar exhibited regularly. It was a really close and warm friendship between Miró and the Gaspar family.
