The catalogue includes illustrations of exhibited works at the Galeria Joan Gaspar (Barcelona). It begins with a brief introduction in Catalan, Spanish and English by Vicente Jarque.
ANDREU ALFARO (Valencia, 1929 - 13.12.2012).
He was a sculptor of an autodidactic formation. In 1958 he took part of the Parpallo group and he started to participate in international exhibitions. Some of them were:
• Bienal of Alexandria in 1959,
• VI Bienal in Sao Paolo in 1961,
• XXXIII Venice Bienal in 1966,
• Salon of Young Sculpture in Paris in 1967, 68, 69,He was a pioneer of constructive sculpture in Spain. For his sculptures, he often used prefabricated parts, mainly of stainless steel square bars.
His works can be seen at the most important international art fairs, as Köln, Basel, Dusseldorf, Paris, Madrid etc. Well-known galleries present his works. In Köln: Gallerie Dreiseitel. In Madrid: Galeria Metta, Galeria Uno, Galeria Alvaro Alcazar; Barcelona: Sala Gaspar & Galeria Joan Gaspar; Valencia: Galeria Temps.
Should be mentioned his monumental public sculptures, more than eighty with vocation to integrate in the public space as authentic collectives monuments: Germany: Köln, Maguncia, Frankfurt; United States: New York; Spain: Valencia, Burgos, Barcelona, Madrid, Girona etc. He has been rewarded several times: Moulding Art National Reward, National Prize of Urbanism, Architecture and Public Work on 1991.
